Today marks the start of Q4 and the beginning of October. This is often an exciting time for travelers as the holiday season nears. Let’s get into some of the updates.

Starting with Mexico, Mexico City has recently acquired its first nonstop connection to the Bahamas. Aeroméxico is scheduled to begin the Mexico City–Nassau route in March 2027.

Cancún continues to see a decline in international passenger travel. International traffic was down around 15% year over year in August. This could lead to more competitive pricing or promotions in the region during the upcoming months, although that remains something to watch rather than a guarantee.

Moving into the Caribbean, Jamaica continues its tourism recovery following Hurricane Melissa. Around 70% of the country’s affected hotel-room inventory has returned, with thousands of additional rooms expected back between the end of this year and early 2027.

Further southeast, Guyana is scheduled to host the State of the Tourism Industry Conference from October 5th through 9th. The conference will bring together tourism leaders, investors, businesses, and policymakers for discussions around technology, sustainability, investment, and the future of Caribbean travel.

Moving into South America, Colombia continues to see growing interest from international travelers. Flight searches toward the country increased 11.5% year over year, with particularly strong growth coming from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, and Peru.

The country is also pushing tourism opportunities outside of its most established destinations. Recent efforts are placing more attention on regions such as Meta and businesses centered around nature, adventure, and wellness tourism.

Moving over to Peru, Lima is preparing for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants event from November 2nd through 4th.

The event is expected to bring around 1,200 chefs, journalists, creators, and other industry figures into the city. It will also be the first time the global event is held in South America, with an estimated economic impact of around $2 million.

Finally, Brazil continues to show strength in both business and leisure travel. Its corporate-travel economy generated approximately $1.87 billion USD between January and August, up more than 8% year over year.

Brazil also broke another aviation record, with around 68 million domestic passengers and 20.6 million international passengers traveling through August. International traffic was up 7.6% compared with last year.

This makes Brazil a strong travel consideration for those wanting to expand outside of the Spanish-dominated regions of the Americas.

That ends this week’s Nomad Signal. The landscape is forever evolving, with new policies, events, and travel patterns affecting the routes we plan to take as travelers.

Until next time,
